Bristol Harbour Festival 2015 – Generators and Distribution supplied from Powerline
Since the high octane days of power boat racing in Bristol docks, the annual festival has relaxed in pace and become less of a Health and Safety officers nightmare. The job however is not without its challenges.
The project is in the very heart of Bristol, mostly in the Banking and leisure areas around the waterfront, which as a pedestrian is easily walkable, in a vehicle though the various one way systems and restrictions make the distribution of equipment a formidable task. The job has over 20 generator positions and a range of strategically placed house power. The load in in shorter than a green filed site so as to minimise disruption to the city, all this combines to make the task a challenging undertaking. By using Crew chiefs that have experience of the event year on year the job is made easier, that little bit of local knowledge and experience of problem solving in previous years means that last minute changes and additions are faultlessly encompassed into the plan. The setting, a dose of sunshine and a varied atmosphere between continental food markets, cultural offerings across a wide range of stages, ships and boats bobbing on the rippling harbour all make this an idyllic event in an impressive, historic setting.
